We reach, push, pull, flirt, and chase to find a connection with another. This is such an active process. My paintings and drawings explore these moments through motion. Whether in dance, underwater, or pillow fighting my work chases the connection that we all yearn for.
My process starts with a photo shoot of my models. Often I’m on a ladder for the photo shoots. Showing the dance from overhead focuses the viewer on the action of the moment instead of the individual dancers. From there, I create gestural dynamic paintings full of a flurry of mark-making set against bold colors.
My work uses motion and drama to explore our quest to find resonance with another.

I received my MFA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000 and have shown my work in galleries in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, and San Diego. I have shown in the Philadelphia International Airport and in Artworks at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In 2009, I had my first solo museum show at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts in Wilmington, DE. My work has been shown at the National Finals for USA Dance for a number of years. I live in Clarksburg MD with my wife and children.
